Website language changes the interface

The language menu in the header changes navigation, instructions, and labels. Choosing Spanish there does not turn an English recording into Spanish text. It also navigates to another page, so download any working result before changing website language.

Spoken language guides recognition

Inside the transcription tool, select the language actually spoken in the recording or use automatic detection when uncertain. This helps Whisper choose how to recognize the words. A recording with frequent language switching can still contain errors; listen back and correct proper names or borrowed terms.

Translation is a separate operation

Transcription writes down speech in its original language. Translation changes the meaning into another language. Select Translate to English to produce English text with Whisper. Other target languages are not supported. Selecting a different spoken language does not enable translation and may harm recognition.

Captions do not replace the voice

SRT and VTT exports pair the recognized words with timing. They do not change the source audio, synthesize another speaker, or produce a dubbed video. For another language, the reviewed transcript and timings can serve as source material for a separate translation workflow.
