Turn a recording into a useful transcript

01Choose the clearest source

MP3 is convenient for sharing; WAV often stores larger, uncompressed audio; M4A is common in voice memos. An extension does not identify every internal codec. If playback fails, export a compatible MP3 or WAV from your recording software. Converting a poor MP3 into WAV cannot restore lost speech detail.

02Review what matters

After recognition, replay a segment while checking names, dates, numbers, and specialist terms. Edit the text directly in the segment list. Automatic language detection is convenient, but manually selecting the spoken language can help avoid a wrong guess. Overlapping speakers are not labeled separately.

03Choose an output

TXT is useful for searching, copying quotations, and making notes. SRT and VTT retain timing for captions. Editing a transcript does not summarize or fact-check it. For quotations, compare the final wording with the recording and preserve the source.
